MINNEAPOLIS – Top 100 retailer Room & Board is moving into the bath category and offering vanities, lighting, mirrors, rugs, accessories and décor.

Update: 88 exhibitors so far for April Premarket

HIGH POINT — Twenty furniture manufacturers and importers are signed on as sponsors for the April 25-27 spring Premarket.

They’ll be joined by 68 non-sponsoring exhibitors who’ve so far notified Furniture Today they’ll open their doors as well.

Originally scheduled for March, this season’s edition was delayed in reaction to the postponement of spring High Point Market, typically held in April, until June 5-9.

Premarket is designed to provide furniture retailers with a preview of upcoming High Point Market introductions. These extended appointments allow attending retailers to experience a more in-depth showroom visit and free up their schedule when they return to High Point during market to be able to visit other vendors.

Corsicana Mattress to build 376,000-square-foot facility in hometown

CORSICANA, Texas – Corsicana Mattress is investing $22 million to build a 376,000-square-foot facility on 26 acres in its hometown here that will house its corporate headquarters, manufacturing, training center, a showroom and an innovation lab.

Upon completion, the company will relocate its corporate office back to Corsicana from Dallas where it has been located since 2018.

This is the second new factory the company has announced this year and marks the second new factory for the company announced within six months. The company announced its opening of a 165,000-square-foot factory in La Porte, Ind., designed produce boxed beds.

Texas furniture stores dealing with winter storm challenges

HOUSTON — Furniture stores in many parts of Texas are feeling the impact of an unusually powerful winter storm of freezing temperatures and significant snow and ice accumulations in the state. And those retailers are reaching out to a community now dealing with widespread power losses and water supply issues.

Statewide, retailers have had to close their doors because of lack of power and because it is no longer safe for their employees to travel to work. Ikea has been keeping customers updated on social media, closing and delaying the opening of up to five stores at a time over the course of about a week because of the bad weather conditions.

Mattress Firm, SleepScore Labs partner on sleep technology

HOUSTON – Sleep retailer Mattress Firm has signed a long-term partnership with a sleep science company to help its retail sales associates deliver more personalized service to consumers.

The retailer and SleepScore Labs are creating an integrated sleep improvement program using insights from SleepScore’s data. Mattress Firm RSAs will use the technology to identify the right bed for each consumer and track experience that actual sleepers have with specific Mattress Firm products. In addition, the two companies will develop a sleep tracking app under Mattress Firm’s virtual resource.
